Bermuda To Host Bristol Alumni Gathering

Bermuda will host a University of Bristol alumni gathering on September 30, ahead of the university’s worldwide Global Gatherings programme in October.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda will take its place on the international stage this month as an early mover in the University of Bristol’s Global Gatherings series, hosting its alumni event ahead of the worldwide programme scheduled for 3–11 October 2026.

“The island’s gathering, hosted by Tammy Richardson Augustus [LLB [Hons] 1996], will take place on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at The Botanist Café & Garden Lounge. The event will bring together Bermuda resident graduates to network and mark the University’s 150th anniversary.

“The Global Gatherings initiative invites Bristol alumni across the world to host informal meetups in their local cities, commemorating 150 years since University College Bristol first opened its doors. Events are independently organised by alumni, with digital invitation and registration support provided by the University’s Alumni Engagement team. Although the official window runs from 3–11 October, hosts are encouraged to select dates that best suit their local communities — positioning Bermuda as one of the first locations to open the season.

“This anniversary year carries particular significance. The University of Bristol is celebrating the opening of two new campuses: the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus [TQEC] in Bristol and the Mumbai Enterprise Campus in India. Together, they represent one of the most ambitious expansions in the University’s history, strengthening its global footprint and creating new spaces for research, innovation and community engagement.

“For those in or near Bristol in October, the University will host flagship anniversary events offering a rare opportunity to explore both the institution’s heritage and its future. Guided tours, public lectures, and interactive sessions will form part of the celebrations, and visitors will be among the first to experience the remarkable new TQEC.

“Alumni worldwide are encouraged to participate in local gatherings or join the commemorative programme in Bristol.”

“Bermuda has long been known for its early adopter posture,” organiser Richardson Augustus noted. “For our distinguished Bristol alumni community, gathering ahead of the global programme feels entirely natural. It reflects our genuine eagerness to be involved and Bermuda’s instinctive understanding of how essential it is to stay connected — locally and globally. Ms Richardson Augustus noted, “Distinguished Bermuda based alumni include Dr Henry Subair, retired rheumatologist; Wendell Hollis, the first Bermudian to read law at Bristol; Michael J.
