Bermuda National Trust Seeks Community Input
The Bermuda National Trust [BNT] is asking people across Bermuda to share their views as it begins work on its next strategic plan.
A spokesperson said, “The Community Listening Project launches this month, with an online survey giving people an opportunity to share their perspectives on Bermuda’s natural and cultural heritage, the work of the Trust and what matters to them.
“The survey is open to all Bermuda residents – you do not need to be a BNT member or know much about the organisation to take part. BNT hopes to hear from people across the community, including younger Bermudians and those who may not have engaged with the Trust before.”
Karen Border, Executive Director of the Bermuda National Trust, said: “What people value about Bermuda’s heritage is personal and varies widely. It might be an open space or a historic building, but it can also be a story, a tradition or simply a place that holds meaning for someone.
“We want to hear those different perspectives. This is an opportunity for us to listen and learn, and to hear directly from people across Bermuda about what matters to them as we plan for the future.”
A spokesperson added, “BNT’s work extends across Bermuda’s natural and cultural heritage. The Trust protects and manages open spaces, nature reserves, historic buildings and cultural sites, while also working in conservation, education, research and advocacy. Its role is not simply to preserve the past, but to help protect the places, stories and natural environment that make Bermuda special for future generations.”
Mark Orchard, Chair of the Bermuda National Trust, said: “The National Trust has been part of Bermuda for more than 50 years, and we have a responsibility to think beyond today. As we develop our next strategic plan, we want to make sure that the views of the wider community are part of that process.
“The feedback we receive will be one of the things the Board considers as we set BNT’s priorities for the coming years. I would encourage people to take a few minutes to complete the survey and tell us what they think.”
A spokesperson added, “The Community Survey runs until 1 October. Everyone who completes the anonymous survey and provides an email address can enter a prize draw, with prizes including a $300 Lindo’s gift card and BNT family and individual memberships.
