Bermudians Score Three Goals For Thomas
Cody Robinson scored twice and fellow Bermudian T’syi Showers also found the net as Thomas College defeated the University of Southern Maine 4-2 in a non-conference football match on Wednesday [Sept 23].
The match took place at Hannaford Field in Gorham, Maine, with fellow Bermudians Tre Burgess, Chance Eve and Justin Sukdeo also featuring for Thomas College.
Southern Maine took the lead through Cole Johnson in the fifth minute, before Robinson equalised in the 13th minute with Brynjar Johannsson credited with the assist.
Robinson added his second less than two minutes later, heading home from a David Ivarsson assist to put the Terriers 2-1 ahead, a lead they held at half-time.
Southern Maine hit the crossbar early in the second half, with Thomas goalkeeper Max Mulvey making a save shortly afterwards to preserve the advantage.
Showers extended the lead to 3-1 in the 61st minute, before Alex Graver scored for Southern Maine in the 64th minute to reduce the deficit.
Andrew Hodgins completed the scoring in the 79th minute, converting a loose ball with a bicycle kick to secure the victory.
The result improved Thomas College’s record to five wins and two defeats.
