Dr. David Sam To Address Ghana Exchange
Bermudian students will connect with their peers in Ghana through live video conferencing on Friday, November 13, 2026, with Bermuda College President Dr. David Sam serving as the guest speaker for the inaugural Roots & Routes Exchange program.
A spokesperson said, “Bermudian students will make history on Friday, November 13, 2026, when they meet their peers in Ghana face to face through live video conferencing at the kick-off of the Roots & Routes Exchange. The first-of-its-kind program, sponsored by Kean University, is designed to build a lasting partnership between students in Bermuda and Ghana.
“The live session begins at 6:00 AM Bermuda time [10:00 AM in Ghana], with students arriving at school by 5:40 AM. The Ghana host is the Oiada International Cultural Center, and the guest speaker is Dr. David A. Fiifi Sam, President of Bermuda College.
“During the exchange, Bermudian students will serve as ambassadors for the island, sharing Bermuda’s culture, history, traditions and way of life with students in Ghana. In return, they will hear directly from Ghanaian students their own age about school, interests and daily life, building understanding and friendships across the Atlantic.”
“This is a historic moment for Bermuda’s young people,” said Eric Jones, International Educational Consultant for Kean University. “Our students won’t just be watching. They will be among the first Bermudians to meet their peers in Ghana through this program, share our island’s story, and help launch a partnership between two communities. We are honored to have Dr. Sam join us at the very start.”
The spokesperson said, “Organizers note that the early start is part of the lesson. Working across time zones is a real-world skill used by professionals and global organizations every day, and it gives students a first taste of being part of a global community. School staff will welcome students and supervise them throughout the session.
“Taking part also gives students experience that colleges value. Helping launch an international exchange sponsored by a U.S. university shows the leadership, curiosity and cross-cultural awareness that stand out in college essays, interviews and scholarship applications. Meeting Dr. Sam at the start of the partnership also helps students picture their own path into higher education.
