Jordan-Whitter’s Hampton Team Finish Seventh
Bermudian head coach Jovan Jordan-Whitter’s Hampton University men’s tennis team finished seventh at the HBCU National Tennis Championships, held from September 17 to 20 at the South Fulton Tennis Center in Georgia.
Five players represented the Pirates, recording six wins and seven defeats in singles competition.
Rafael Padilha finished third in Flight A singles with a 3-1 record. He secured third place by defeating Alabama State’s Flor De Sitter 3-6, 6-4, [10-4].
Aryan Arora reached the Flight B singles quarterfinals, where he lost to North Carolina Central’s Adrian Matei Nedelcu 5-7, 6-0, [8-10].
In doubles, Padilha and Ibrahim Carrington reached the Flight A quarterfinals. The pair recorded consecutive 6-3 victories over opponents from Jackson State and Tuskegee before losing 6-3 to an Alcorn State pairing.
