Marion Bermuda Race 50th Anniversary In 2027
The Marion Bermuda Race will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027 with a landmark 645-nautical-mile sailing race, special events, expanded awards, and festivities in Massachusetts and Bermuda.
A spokesperson said, “The Marion Bermuda Race, one of offshore sailing’s most cherished traditions, will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2027. Since its inaugural start in 1977, this 645-nautical mile ocean race has embodied the spirit of Corinthian sailing, camaraderie, and adventure, attracting generations of sailors from New England and beyond.
“In 2017, the race celebrated its 40th anniversary with more than 50 entries, reaffirming its reputation as the “every sailor’s ocean race.” The race is looking to better that number in 2027.
“The 2027 edition promises to be a landmark event, honoring five decades of ocean racing history while charting an exciting course for the future. Skippers, crews, families, and friends are invited to join in the festivities both in Marion and in Bermuda.
“Highlights of the 50th Anniversary Race include:
- “Special Anniversary Events: Celebrations at the Beverly Yacht Club in Marion and the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club in Bermuda.
- “Expanded Awards & Recognition: Honoring past champions, multi-race veterans, and first-time crews.
- “Crew & Family Hospitality: Including travel discounts, dockage specials, and shoreside events.
- “Legendary Goslings Rum Party: Pre- and post-race tradition in Marion and Bermuda.

“Over the past 50 years, the Marion Bermuda Race has built a legacy of accessible, family-friendly, and truly Corinthian offshore racing,” said Executive Director Neil Redburn “In 2027, we invite all past and future competitors to help us celebrate this incredible milestone.”
A spokesperson added, “The race starts on June 18, 2027 from Marion, Massachusetts, and finishes off St. David’s Head Bermuda. Early registration discounts will be available.
