Bermuda Cricket Opener Abandoned Due To Rain
Bermuda’s opening match of the North American Cup against hosts Cayman Islands was abandoned because of rain at the Jimmy Powell Oval in George Town on Sunday [September 20].
The match was Bermuda’s first fixture of the 2026 North American Cup, which features Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Bahamas and runs through September 27.

Bermuda are scheduled to return to action against Bahamas on Tuesday [September 22], before facing Cayman Islands again on Wednesday [September 23] and Bahamas for a second time on Friday [September 25]. The second and third-placed teams are scheduled to meet in a playoff on September 26, with the winner advancing to the final against the top-ranked team on September 27.
The rainout denied Bermuda and Cayman another meeting after the teams split two matches during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Regional Final in Canada last year. Bermuda recorded a seven-wicket victory in their first encounter before Cayman responded with a nine-wicket win later in the competition.
Bermuda’s squad for the North American Cup is captained by Terryn Fray, with Derrick Brangman serving as vice-captain.
