Premier of Anguilla Cora Richardson-Hodge and Turks & Caicos Islands Deputy Premier Jamell Robinson visited Bermuda’s House of Assembly on Friday [Sept 11] as part of their official visit for the 2026 Overseas Territories Caribbean Caucus.
A Government spokesperson said, “The visiting leaders were welcomed to the House by Deputy Speaker Lovitta Foggo JP, MP and received in the Speaker’s Chambers, where they signed the official guest book. Also present for the occasion was the President of the Senate, the Hon. Joan Dillas-Wright JP.
“Following the formal welcome, Premier Richardson-Hodge and Deputy Premier Robinson joined proceedings in the House Chamber, where they observed part of the morning session, which included Ministerial Statements being delivered and Ministers responding to Parliamentary Questions.
“The House visit formed part of a broader programme of engagements taking place during the 2026 Overseas Territories Caribbean Caucus, which was hosted by Bermuda from September 8-10, under the chairmanship of the Premier, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, in his capacity as President of the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association [UKOTA] Political Council.
“The Caucus brought together political leaders from across the Caribbean Overseas Territories to discuss matters of mutual interest and common concern.
“OT Leaders attending this year’s Caucus included:
- The Hon. Cora Richardson-Hodge, Premier of Anguilla;
- The Hon. Dr. Natalio Wheatley, Premier of the British Virgin Islands;
- The Hon. André Ebanks, Premier of the Cayman Islands;
- The Hon. Reuben Meade, Premier of Montserrat; and
- The Hon. Jamell Robinson, Deputy Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
“The Overseas Territories Caribbean Caucus serves as a key precursor to the annual Joint Ministerial Council [JMC] meetings with the United Kingdom Government, which are scheduled to take place in November. This year’s discussions focused on a range of critical issues, including constitutional modernisation, climate resilience, economic and financial services, healthcare, cybersecurity, regional cooperation, and the overall wellbeing of Overseas Territory citizens.”
Premier Burt said, “It was a privilege for Bermuda to welcome our fellow Overseas Territory leaders to the House of Assembly and to showcase Bermuda’s parliamentary traditions. The Overseas Territories Caribbean Caucus continues to strengthen the collaboration and shared advocacy that are essential to advancing the interests of our Territories.”
