Photos & Video: Prep Work At Tennis Stadium
Final preparations are underway at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium as Bermuda prepares to host Mexico in the Davis Cup World Group II tie this weekend.
The event will mark the return of Davis Cup competition to Bermuda after three decades, with the island’s team – Tariq Simons, Trey Mallory, Daniel Phillips, Wayne Montgomery and Zach McGuire, led by Coach Ricky Mallory — set to compete in front of a home crowd.
According to the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association’s event announcement, match play is scheduled to begin at 11.00am on both days, with gates opening at 10.00am.
BLTA President Michael Wolfe previously said, “Bermuda may be small, but we are mighty. These five players have earned the opportunity to represent our country on this stage and have shown that Bermuda can compete with tennis nations from around the world. Now we get to see our stars compete at home. I invite everyone across Bermuda to come out, fill the stadium and get behind Team Bermuda. This is a moment for our entire island.”
