PLP Annual General Conference Postponed
[Updated] The PLP’s Annual General Conference, which was originally scheduled for October 28th -30th 2026, has been postponed, with the party saying “this decision was taken in light of the ongoing court matter.”
This is according to a message sent out by the party, to various party officials, members and candidates, said, “This notice serves as formal confirmation of the decision of Central Committee regarding the 2026 Annual General Conference. The Annual General Conference scheduled for 28–30 October 2026 has been postponed.
“Accordingly, the current Conference timetable is paused. All delegate selection meetings scheduled under that timetable are postponed and should not take place until a revised timetable is issued.
“All other normal Branch business may continue. The 31 August 2026 membership eligibility cutoff remains unchanged.
“Once the current Court matter is resolved, proposed new Conference dates and a revised timetable will be submitted to Central Committee for approval. Branches, members and candidates will then be notified promptly of the new arrangements. Please govern yourselves accordingly.”

Update 9.28pm: The PLP has now officially confirmed the AGM has been postponed, with a press release saying, “The Progressive Labour Party advises its members and the public that Central Committee has postponed the Party’s 61st Annual General Conference, originally scheduled for 28–30 October 2026.
“This decision was taken in light of the ongoing court matter, on which the Party will not comment further. New Conference dates will be confirmed once the matter is resolved, and members will be notified accordingly.”

I thought the issue of Central Committee having a veto over the selection of candidates was settled some years ago.
