The location of the vehicles tells you everything you need to know.
Hmmm, what does a solid YELLOW line mean again?
“what does a solid YELLOW line mean again?”
It means no parking.
There is a no overtaking part of Harbour Road, but that is not part of it.
A (single) solid yellow centre line means no stopping or parking .
What is your misinformed version of it ?
That is the problem: most Bermudians do not know the rules. Yellow line means no overtaking (unless a stationary car, pedal cycle, horse or maintenance vehicle, when they are going REALLY slow). Below:
From the Bermuda Traffic Code Handbook (2015):
LINES AND LANE MARKINGS IN THE ROAD
Solid yellow line: This means you SHOULD NOT cross or straddle it, unless it is safe and you need to enter adjoining premises or a side road. You may cross the line if necessary to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are traveling at 15 Km/h or less You MUST NOT wait or park opposite a yellow line
“You MUST NOT wait or park opposite a yellow line”
Yes… And not overtaking.
I was not negating the parking part, just indicating that overtaking is not allowed either.
No, Bermuda law does not prohibit overtaking except for a section of Harbour Road between Red Hole and Valley Road. There is a difference between “should not” and “must not”.
Paragraph 39 of the Traffic Code Handbook says “Overtake only on the right, except when a driver in front has signalled his intention to turn to the right. (This rule does not apply in one-way streets.)”
Keep telling yourself lies but it is pretty clear. Even it tells when you can cross it. White continuous leave – you can overtake. Yellow leave – no.
If you are telling me Bermuda law says you cannot overtake someone unless they are doing less than 15 kph, then our island is in a sad pathetic state. Who in their right mind would write such a stupid law? You should be able to overtake anyone driving under the speed limit. I swear this island lost its mind a long time ago and we have a bunch of dim bulbs who made the stupid nonsensical rules and forced them on everyone. You can jog at 15kph for heaven’s sake.
Perfect, Keep collecting dead bikers from the road.
