Jovan Jordan-Whitter Earns First DI Win
Jovan Jordan-Whitter recorded his first win as an NCAA Division I head coach at the weekend.
Jordan-Whitter’s Hampton University men’s and women’s teams competed at the Christopher Newport Invitational in Newport News, Virginia.
Jordan-Whitter was appointed head coach of the men’s and women’s tennis programmes at Hampton University in June.
“I won our first match as a division 1 coach 4-3,” he wrote on social media. “Let’s go Hampton University.
“Went 3-2 overall on our first weekend. Pretty sure we would have gone 4-2 if [a match] didn’t get rained out. Successful first event.”
He joined Hampton after serving as head coach of the varsity tennis programmes at the University of New England [UNE].
Before joining UNE, Jordan-Whitter coached at the University of Massachusetts Boston and worked with the Bermuda national tennis teams.
As a player, Jordan-Whitter represented Bermuda in Davis Cup competition from 2001-04 and again in 2017.
