BWS: Josephine Brings High Swells To Bermuda

October 22, 2026 | 0 Comments

The Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] is warning of high swells from Subtropical Storm Josephine and potentially gale-force winds, heavy showers and gusts exceeding 40 knots from Sunday into Monday.

The BWS posted the graphic online below, saying, “Good afternoon, Bermuda! The Hurricane Center in Miami is issuing advisories on Subtropical Storm Josephine, which is expected to pass well to our north and pose no direct threat to Bermuda. However, it will be sending high swells down our way, so there is a Small Craft Warning in effect starting tonight for seas outside the reef of 9ft or more.

“Additionally, weather this weekend will be going downhill as a low pressure system approaches from the south, and interacts with strong high pressure pushing off the US East Coast. Winds will start to increase Saturday, but the worst is likely Sunday afternoon through Monday morning, when we could have sustained winds to gale force at times and gusts over 40kts, as well as widespread rain or showers. Be sure to check in at weather.bm for updates!”
