Rev Williams Urges Greater Care On Roads

November 5, 2026 | 1 Comment

Reverend Carl Williams has urged residents to slow down on Bermuda’s roads, show greater consideration for others and hold family conversations about the value of human life.

Speaking to Bernews about St. Mary’s All Souls’ Day service of remembrance and consolation, the priest-in-charge of the Warwick church reflected on the grief experienced by families who have lost loved ones.

He noted that the service carried a poignant focus due to the recent loss of life across the island, acknowledging families affected by road fatalities, violence, and the air ambulance tragedy.

He appealed to motorists to consider everyone sharing the roads, including passengers, pedestrians, joggers and people walking.

“We must consider the other person,” he said.

Rev. Williams warned about speeding and drinking, highlighting the dangers posed by Bermuda’s winding roads and the devastating impact that fatal collisions have on families.

He encouraged households to discuss the sanctity of human life and urge relatives to act responsibly, calling for greater care throughout the remainder of the year and into 2027.

“We do not want to see another fatality for the year,” he said.

His appeal extended to preventing gun deaths and stabbings, with Rev. Williams calling for an end to behaviour that brings further grief to the community.

Reflecting on his Christian faith, he encouraged residents to turn to God and demonstrate love for their neighbours, emphasising compassion, respect and responsibility towards one another.

I agree, Reverend. Sadly, I do not believe your entreaties will change decades of a different message coming from our political leadership.
