Video: Carys Caisey’s ‘A Prayer For Our Nation’

September 28, 2021

Carys Caisey has written a prayer poem entitled ‘A Prayer For Our Nation,’ with an associated video uploaded to the YouTube channel of St. Mark’s Church.

The poem says, “Our island home is burdened, Lord. With grief more than we can afford. Each day we hear of many more who’ve suffered so, now at your door.

“We hear of plenty so sick and scared. We never thought or were prepared to see the strain on so many faces. At home, in hospital, or other places. Our hearts are heavy, on bended knee, we call your name to hear our plea.”

“We ask that those who need you now can find the solace; Lord show them how.

“God bless the doctors, nurses too, who work so hard to pull us through.

“Please wipe their tears and keep them strong as they wipe a brow urging some ‘hang on.’

“For those whose journey reached the end, for families trying to comprehend.

“We pray that time will ease the pain, assured one day they’ll meet again.

“The fear we know within our minds is not of you but human mind.

“We pray that soon the end draws near, life back on track with those held dear.

“Lord Jesus, Son of God, most high, you suffered pain and went to die.

“Upon the Cross so we could live, hearts laid bare, please God, forgive.

“So as the days keep passing by, we look to heaven beyond the sky.

“For strength and peace, community love, cascading hope from God above.

“Amen.”
