Fire Victim Named As Gordon Howard
The victim of the house fire this morning has been named as Gordon Howard, the director of English football club Kidderminster Harriers who play in the Blue Square Premier League.
The 67-year-old is being honoured by his club, who will hold a minute’s silence in Mr. Howard’s memory before Tuesday night’s first home game of the 2010/11 season with Southport.
Chairman Barry Norgrove commented to harriers.co.uk today: “Gordon was a tremendous fellow and we hit it off instantly when we first met five or six years ago. We’d been good friends ever since and got on ever so well – this really is a terrible shock. He has been a tremendous servant to the club over the last few years and we will truly miss him. My condolences and those of the Board and the club as whole are entirely with Gail, his wife, and his family and friends.”
Mr Howard was previously the former manager of the personal trust and private banking division of Bermuda Trust Company Ltd and Grosvenor Management’s Managing Director.
At around 1:30am his two-storey dwelling at 7 Fairways Road, Warwick was on fire, and over a dozen firefighters and multiple vehicles responded and after putting out the fire found Mr Howard inside in a collapsed state. It is believed he may have been trying to rescuse his two dogs. He was rushed to King Edward Memorial Hospital, where he tragically died as a result of his injuries.

I would have done the same for my dog…and cat and turtle.
I met Mr. Gordon 43 years ago when he was a dog handler in the Bermuda Police. He loved dogs and football.
My condolences to his Wife and children.
A fine member of Bermudas infastucture and a prime example of civility.
My appoligise for the typing error. Mr. Howard.
