Bermuda’s Lara Meets Brian Lara
Yesterday afternoon [Oct 19] West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara stopped by the National Stadium to train with local cricket players. Before doing so he met his namesake – 5-year-old St Davids Primary School student Lara, who is named after the cricketing great.
Lara’s mother told us that her husband is a huge fan of Mr. Lara’s, and explained the story behind her daughter being named after the legendary cricketer.
One could somewhat say this is the second time Lara has met the man she was named after, as Lara’s mother had previously met Mr Lara when he visited Bermuda in 2005, while she was pregnant with soon-to-be-born Lara – who is pictured below holding a photo of her pregnant mom and Mr Lara.
Mr Lara is in Bermuda as a guest player at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, having been invited by the Premier and the Department of Tourism. The West Indian legend is the only batsman to have ever scored a hundred, a double century, a triple century, a quadruple century and a quintuple century in first class games over the course of a senior career.
Oh Lara, How sweet. What a nice looking picture of you both.
