Bacardi Makes Donation to CADA

January 12, 2011

The Bacardi Limited Leadership Team recently hosted a reception at which invitees were encouraged to make a financial contribution that was given to CADA, encouraging responsible alcohol behavior.

In making the announcement, Mr. Seamus McBride, President and CEO of Bacardi Limited, said, “Bacardi Limited is pleased to continue our support of CADA’s “Let Us Drive” program. Bacardi has been a sponsor and champion of this program since its inception and we are proud to continue to have our name associated with this important consumer safety initiative.”

Mr. Anthony Santucci, CADA’s Chairman, stated, “CADA was extremely pleased to learn Bacardi had selected us as the recipient of their community project this year. The Let Us Drive service has become an important option for people, who have been out drinking on a Friday night, to get home safely. While we will never be able to count the number of lives saved, we do know that giving people an alternative to drinking and driving is indeed saving lives. So far we have taken home almost 5000 people. With the generous donations made by Bacardi and the reception attendees we will be able to take home hundreds more.”

Mr. Santucci concluded, “Again, on behalf of CADA, encouraging responsible alcohol behavior, I thank Bacardi for their on-going, generous support of the Let Us Drive program.”

Let Us Drive is a free, late night, don’t drink and drive taxi service. It is available every Friday night from 3:15am – 3:45am on Reid Street outside the LOM Building. The program was founded in May 2007 through the support of Bacardi Limited, the very first sponsor of this program. Supporting Sponsors are: Gosling’s Ltd, Burrows Lightbourn Ltd, Fairmont Bermuda Hotels and The City of Hamilton.
