Police Name Accident Victim As Timothy Pedro

April 8, 2011

The Bermuda Police have named the gentleman who passed away following a road traffic collision yesterday [Apr.7] as Timothy Pedro.

A Police spokesman said, “The Bermuda Police Service can confirm the death of, 49 year old Timothy Joseph Pedro of Sousa Estate Road in Devonshire. Police responded to a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 6pm on Thursday, on Middle Road in Devonshire and Parsons Lane, as a result Mr. Pedro was taken to KEMH were he was pronounced dead at 6:22pm.”

“Police are appealing for anyone that may have seen this collision to please contact PC Steven Darrell on 299-4388. Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the Family and friends of Timothy Pedro and this marks the 2nd road traffic fatality for 2011″

At approximately 6pm last night [Apr.7] Mr Pedro was involved in a motorcycle crash on Middle Road in Devonshire, right outside Island Construction, his place of employment.

Mr Pedro, who leaves behind a wife and daughter, had worked for Island Construction Ltd on and off for much of his adult life. Staff members at the construction company are said to be understandably upset at the news of their co-workers passing.

Island Construction CEO Zane DeSilva, also the Health Minister, said, “Timmy was not only an employee but a childhood friend, we grew up together in the west. We played snooker together for many years. He worked for me at Island Quarry for several years as office manager. He left for a short period and then returned to work for ICS, as manager of our container haulage division, for the last ten years. Timmy was the absolute example of a model employee – one of the best! Took his job seriously and was darned good at it!”

“His family and mine spent many great times together, especially when our kids were younger. Joanne and I will always have great memories of some of the overseas trips with Timmy and wife Theresa. This is a great shock to me and my family and of course the ICS family. My heart goes out to his wife Theresa and his lovely daughter Lori. He will be sadly missed. A great friend who will live in my memory forever.”

Bernews extends our sympathies to Mr Pedro’s family and friends.

This is the second road fatality of 2011, following the death of Vershon Simmons following a road traffic accident on Harbour Road on March 5.
