Police Seize Gun, Arrest 22-Yr-Old Man

June 27, 2011

The Police have confirmed that a 22-year-old man was arrested after officers located a gun this past Friday [June 24] during a search of a home in the Friswells Hill area.

A Police spokesman said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now report that officers seized a firearm during a search at a private residence in the Friswell’s Hill area of Pembroke on Friday afternoon, 24th June 2011.”

“A 22 year old Pembroke man was arrested in connection with the firearm which is a hand gun. No further information can be released at this time while police continue their enquiries, starting with a forensic examination of the firearm to establish whether it is linked to any previous crimes.”

“Anyone with information relating to this incident – or any firearm in Bermuda – is encouraged to call the Serious Crime Unit (SCU) on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”

This is the second time this month the Bermuda Police have seized a gun, following the arrest of four men and the recovery of firearm and ammunition in St George’s on June 5th.

    • Observer says:

Charge him for everything it is linked to and see what results you get!

  8. Stop Pointing ya Fingers says:

Good work, but if this gun is connected to murders, will he get charged for them? Or like the others will those just simply get ignored like with other gun siezures??

    • Think about it says:

The difference between the past gun seizure and this one is that there was only one person taken into custody. Therefore it will be easier to charge him for the murders the weapon is connected to. The other one there were a few guys.

well done…….that gun MAY be linked to a few murders!!!!!!! the more the better – off the street that is!!!!!!!

  17. Can you handle this says:

Well if the police continously say and want us to believe that there are only two or three guns on the island and they are being shared is it safe to say that with the seizure of this gun they now have them all (3)…and before anybody starts ranting remember it is the police that have on more than one occasion stated that there are only two to three…at any rate as luck would have it you have managed to get it off the street none the less…….

  18. Fool me once says:

Good job Bda Police! Hope that people are starting to see the light that it doesn’t pay to harbour guns in your house or shelter thugs and criminals.
