Bermuda’s Portuguese community came together today [May 18] to celebrate a centuries old tradition that originated in the Azores in the 17th century.
The “Festa do Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres” [Festival of the Christ of Miracles], sees a solemn procession through Hamilton with participants walking on a carpet of flowers set down beforehand.
Nearly 400 years old, the Festival is the largest religious celebration of the Azores. It was celebrated this same weekend in the Azores, as well as by members of the Portuguese diaspora across the globe.

#nuffin but the truth – Keep your stupid political comments to yourself. No one wants to hear it especially on this occasion. This was and is a peaceful religious celebration. Your small mind can’t think of anything else but to cause disruption. Keep the peace!
What a wonderful celebration of Christ and His Miracles!
This is a parade that could be better advertised for more crowds to see in the future please. Christian churches could encourage attendance since they also believe in miracles.
the portuguese community carries on to their culture. they are a pride to Bermuda.
