New Swimming Long Course Records Set
The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association released the updated Long Course Meter records after the XX Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships held July 3rd through 7th, 2014 in Wildey, Barbados.
Jesse Washington broke the 15 and 16 Boys 100m Freestyle record clocking a time of 54.54, breaking Nicholas Thomson’s record of 55.02 set on July 12th, 2008, Washington came back and broke that record clocking 53.90 in the Final.
Washington broke the 200m Freestyle record with a time of 1:59.08, breaking his own record of 2:00.03 set on June 8th, 2014, he touched the wall during the 50m Butterfly in a time of 26.50, breaking his own record of 26.71 set on June 14th, 2014, he then clocked 28.63 during the 50m Backstroke, breaking Nicholas Thomson’s record of 29.12 set on April 7th, 2007.
Bermuda [Open Age Group]
Female
Rebecca Heyliger set a new 50m Butterfly record of 29.14, breaking her joint record with Ashley Aitken of 29.18, which Aitken set on July 29th, 2005 and Heyliger set on June 7th, 2014.
Male
Julian Fletcher during the 200m Breaststroke broke a record that had previously stood for 21 years, he touched the wall in a time of 2:22.71, breaking Chris Flook’s record of 2:22.93 set on November 1st, 1993.
