Pilot boat St David met the arriving cruise ship off St David’s at approximately 8.30pm when the passenger and a relative were transferred off the ship.

An attending ambulance met the pilot boat at Ordnance Island and transported the ill passenger to King Edward Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

The world’s second largest cruise ship, able to carry over 6000 passengers, continued on its journey to Málaga, Spain at approximately 10.15pm.

Yeah, really big boat. Wonder how big they will get by the time they hit a size wall like aircraft where nothing significantly bigger has not entered service in the past 5 years.

Hope the passenger is ok. On a lighter note, this should help our tourism figures.

We saw it as we were driving past John Smith’s bay – amazingly large!!

On a side note. Does our new hospital have an infectious disease quarantine area with staff to handle as such?? Wouldn’t want plane/ship diversions to think they could just drop “seriously ill” passengers off here and then not be able to handle a clear and present danger. Just being real people ;)
