Are Burnley About To Swoop For Nahki Wells?

January 8, 2015

“Are Burnley about to swoop for Huddersfield Town’s Nahki Wells?” is the question being asked by the UK’s Metro news, who report that Burnley scouts have being spotted recently at the John Smith’s Stadium serving to fuel rumours.

The January transfer window opened on 3 January and will close again on 2 February, and during this transfer period rumours and speculation abound over moves various teams and players may make.

“Aiding the rumour mill is the possibility that Burnley’s out of favour striker, Marvin Sordell, could be the makeweight in a £1 million deal,” the Metro report.

“Town’s record signing, Wells, has found himself in and out of the starting line-up even though he remains the club’s leading scorer this season. With Premier League safety at stake, his instinct in front of goal is comparable to Danny Ings and he’d be viewed as an avenue to find goals from the bench for The Clarets.

“Sordell and Wells are similar in physique and attributes and would appear a more viable exchange for both parties.”

According to the Metro report, the “sticking point for Town at the moment would surely be the £1 million fee for Wells, who having provided goals and some sparkling performances, has seen his value rocket.”

One year ago — in January 2014 — Championship side Huddersfield Town F.C signed Nahki Wells “for an undisclosed Club record fee” on a four and a half year deal, buying the striker from Bradford City.

While the transfer fee was not officially released, they did say it broke the old Club record, which stood at £1.2 million [$2 million], making it the highest amount ever paid for a Bermudian footballer.

Please waiting until after the Spurs vs Burnley replay….. All jokes aside; I hope this happens for Nahki. Please don’t hurt us too bad, a little 3-2 to Spurs with Wells scoring 2 would do me fine.

I hope he gets a few offers. I would be very frustrated if I was him. Leading Scorer and you keep getting benched? I guess he is a better man that I am.

I would understand if he was struggling, not fit, or returning from injury – but he is not! Play me, or trade me! I know its obviously not that simple, but I hope he finds a coach that wants to take advantage of his abilities!
