February 19, 2015

Bermudian Jenaya Wade-Fray has been named to the Women’s British Basketball League [WBBL] Team of the Week, following her opening game with the Brixton Topcats where she helped her new team collect a win in Manchester by scoring 19 points.

The WBBL said, “It was a productive first game for our first debutante as Wade-Fray pulled on a Brixton jersey for the first time last weekend and had an immediate major impact on proceedings.

“The London 2012 performer helped her new team collect a win in Manchester after sinking 19 points. She dropped five triples and also amassed four assists and four steals in an influential first game.”

Wade-Fray joined the Brixton Topcats basketball team earlier this month, with the club saying, “Wade-Fray, a 5ft 9 shooting guard has played 38 caps for Great Britain being a key figure in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“She spent four years at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where in her senior year averaged 12.9 PPG & 6.2 RPG.”

Brixton Topcats head coach Steve Vear said, “Jenaya has only had a few practices under her belt but instantly you can see her level of professionalism and high basketball IQ.

“She is a player that leads by example which is really going to help our younger players. I’m excited to have her on board for the rest of the season where she is going to bring a lot to the Topcats.”
