58-Yr-Old Man Arrested After Assault In Smiths

[Updated] A 55-year-old man is being treated at KEMH for stab wounds, and a 58-year-old man has been taken into police custody following an assault on Cloverdale Road in Smiths at around 10.30am this morning [Apr 23].

Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said, “At 10.30am, the Bermuda Police Service responded to a report of an assault that took place on Cloverdale Road in Smiths.

“It appears that two men were in an altercation, resulting in a 55-year-old man being taken to KEMH with stab wounds to his body. A 58-year-old man has been taken into police custody and an investigation into the matter has commenced.

“Police are appealing for anyone who may have any information about this incident to contact Inspector Mark Clarke at CID at 295-0011.”

Mr Caines said the condition of the victim is unknown at this time.

Update 11.56: A police spokesperson said, “Around 10:30am on Thursday, April 23rd first responders attended an incident that took place on Cloverdale Road in Smith’s parish, adjacent to the Apothecary.

“Upon police arrival it was ascertained that an assault took place between two men.

“Apparently a 58-year-old man brandished what appears to be a bladed article and used it against a 55 year old man, resulting in the 55-year-old man being taken to the hospital with injuries that are unknown at this point and time.

“The 58 year-year-old man was later taken into police custody.

“The Forensic Support Unit is on scene along with officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit.

“Police are appealing for anyone who may have any information regarding this incident to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

Update 2.38pm: The police said the stabbing victim is “still in the hospital being treated for a serious arm injury, and injuries to his lower extremities” and said his injuries are “not believed to be life threatening.”

    And Summer hasn’t even started yet!!! It is gonna be a long hot summer! When it gets hot people have less patients and tolerance for BS! I tell people all of the time, the same things you say to a person in the winter you CAN’T say in the summer cause peoples’ patience and tolerance levels are much lower because its HOT! People are more irritable! I’ve not only seen it but i have lived it!!
