The Bermuda Rose Society’s recently published book “Roses in Bermuda Revisited” has received international acclaim, being awarded the Literary Award for Excellency at the 17th World Rose Convention of the World Federation of Rose Societies.
Delegates from 32 countries were present at the judging.
The Literary Award for Excellence was presented to Peter Holmes, President of the Bermuda Rose Society, and Marijke Peterich, Treasurer during the closing night of the Convention.
In judging the book, it was evaluated by Malcolm Manners, Professor at the Florida Southern College, Lakeland Florida; Yuki Mikanagi, Curator of the Herbarium in the Natural History Museum & Institute in Chiba, Japan; and Gregg Lowery, Curator of Vintage Roses, Sebastopol, California.
A spokesperson said, “It did not take the delegates long to find the book of lasting importance. This was the jewel in the crown on the work of editor Lee Davidson and her entire committee, who worked so hard for so many years.”
