Photos & Video: Lambe Defeats Canadian Fighter
Andre Lambe from the Forty Rego’s took on Shane Melo from MAS Canada at the boxing event held on Saturday, November 7th at the Fairmont Southampton, with Lambe defeating the Canadian fighter in front of the packed crowd.
Lambe, who came into the bout with a 0-3 record, won by a unanimous points decision, and was so excited he fell to the mat when they announced him as the winner.
Speaking before the match, the lightweight boxer said, “It means a lot to represent Bermuda against a Canadian. I want to represent Bermuda as best as possible.”
He wasn’t shy about predicting an out-right victory either, saying: “I am going to win. The other fighters may have gotten lucky against me last time, but he’s not going to get lucky against me this time.”
The title match-up saw Bermudian professional boxer Nikki Bascome defeat Mexico’s Pilo Reyes by technical knockout, with the referee calling a halt to the fight only 2 minutes 33 seconds into the 1st round.
In addition to the Bascome vs Reyes bout, Keanu Wilson defeated Courtney Dublin, Jaylen Roberts defeated Raul Vlad, Zain Philpott knocked out Shomari Warner, Tyler Christopher defeated Kaya Simmons, Robert Somner defeated Di’Andre Burgess, Shannon Ford defeated Stefan Dill, Corey Boyce defeated Canada’s Daniel Avram, and there was also an exhibition match between Andrew Watson and Deondre Morris.
