Winning Christmas Trees To Earn Donations

December 11, 2017

A Christmas Tree decorating event is being held to both bring festive cheer to the Washington Mall and assist the island’s charities, with charitable donations of $2,500; $1,000; and $750 to be made to the winners.

This year the focus was on charities that deal with disabilities, so seven charities decorated a Christmas Tree in the Washington Mall; with Summerhaven, Windreach, Action on Alzheimers, BASE, Committee of 25, Project 100 and Hope Academy all taking part.

“Decorating night was Monday gone and they did an awesome job! It was so nice to hear about kids from Hope Academy or Windreach students getting together to make the ornaments. Even residents at Summerhaven painted and putting the ornaments together,” a spokesperson said.

Between now and Sunday, a group will judge the trees, with a financial donations of $2,500; $1,000 and $750 to be made to the winners.

The organisers also have a People’s Choice award, allowing the public to vote from now until December 15th. The winners will be announced on Monday, December 18th.
