Summerhaven Trust Awareness Month and it kicked off with a successful golf tournament on Saturday [March 2] at the Ocean View Golf & Country Club.

A spokesperson said, “We have coined March as Summerhaven Trust Awareness Month and it kicked off with a successful golf tournament on Saturday March 2nd at the Ocean View Golf & Country Club.

“Summerhaven Trust provides the opportunity for people with disabilities to live in the community rather than in confining and regimented institutions. Residents are expected to develop skills that will enable them to attain independent living. Independent living does not mean that residents must be able to perform all the tasks of daily living. It means making responsible decisions about how and when to use the special devices and support personnel that exist at Summerhaven Trust to create a purposeful, self-organized and self-directed routine.
