Police Issue 135 Traffic Tickets In 5 Hours
Police issued 135 traffic tickets between 5am and 10am today, with speeding accounting for the majority of offences, including one motorist clocked at 86km/h.
In their latest update on social media the police said, “It seems some road users simply refuse to take heed of our numerous and repeated advisories about stepped up roads policing. Just please don’t blame us when the Magistrate slaps you with a big fine and you end up with demerit points on your license.
“Would you believe that between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. today, 135 tickets were issued for traffic offences? Here’s the breakdown:
- Speeding 71 [Highest speed 86 KMPH]
- Use of handheld devices 8
- No Driver’s license 5
- Failing to stop 9
- Failing to wear a seat belt 33
- Disobey a Traffic Sign 1
- No license plate 1
- Unfastened helmet 1
- Tint 1
- No Insurance 2
- Unlicensed M/bike 2
- Tint 1

That is hardly surprising given the lack of roads policing over the past 20 odd years.
