  1. Seriously?! says:

Well done ladies! Looking forward to seeing you there.

  2. Cow Polly says:

Excellent news – I look forward to enjoying their performance

  3. interesting says:

I don’t recall ever seeing these ladies perform during the May 24th parade?

    Bermuda Is Truly another world.

Many will say why is that important, there is a segment of our community that just does not participate in the May 24th Parade.

To see all of this interest in the Gay Parade is wonderful. However, we now have a standard that we can now hold people accountable to!

    • Double S says:

Remember when ‘real Bermudians’ showed their ‘true friendliness’ and forced the Filipinos out of the parade with their so called ‘Bermudian hospitality?’

      • Joe Bloggs says:

I think you mean “BORN BERMUDIAN” rather than “real Bermudian”. I am a “real Bermudian”, even if I do not look like what the trolls refer to as a “BORN BERMUDIAN”.

      • Question says:

        Exactly

    • Mike Hind says:

Which segment of our community would you say these women represent, specifically?

    • CHRIS says:

who are you to tell people how they should spend their public holiday?

    • 1st tome says:

They actually performed on the causeway for the runners

    • Smile says:

I’ve seen the group performing the last 2 (or 3?) May 24ths along the 1/2 marathon course supporting ALL participants.

Come out to the Parade Aug 31st to hear them play while you support Equality – or start training up for May 24 next year!! :)

    • Cow Polly says:

“A standard that we can hold people accountable to?”
Who are “we” and more importantly “how are you going to hold people accountable?????
Have you considered that people don’t attend the May 24th parade anymore because it doesn’t include them?

  4. Things a Gwan says:

Good to see these ladies stand up to hate and display to all that while we may all look a little different, come from different places, support different political parties, have different religion beliefs, we all have a place here and all deserve to be heard and respected. We must all fight against all forms of hate. Because if we don’t stop the hate and speak up against it, one day it will be you that others hate, and when you wonder why nobody is speaking up for you, you will know why.

    • Joe Bloggs says:

“We must all fight against all forms of hate.”

What? Then why are we appealing to the Privy Council to enshrine discrimination against the LBGTQ+ community into our law?

    • Stop says:

Oh just stop with all the gay love crap! There is no need to put gay on parade!

      • Enough says:

I agree! I am gay and I am against parading us around like we need everyone’s approval to be gay! Enough! It’s idiots who think they know what it is to be gay! I am get and don’t need a parade thank you!

    • Onion Juice says:

I agree, but some people pick social injustice causes. In ALL of Bermuda’s History of Civil Rights and Labour protests there has never been support from some of the Community, not to mention Hotel Groups, a Police Commissioner or Elite Official.
      Perfect example of Common Interest.

      • Mike Hind says:

You’re one to talk. You actively speak out against equality for the LGBT+ community.
The only time you’re FOR social justice is when it affects YOU.
Otherwise, you’re cool with injustices… as long as YOU get to do them.

    • Ray says:

Hate? If someone disagrees with ones lifestyle, how does that equate to hate? Ya pulling at straws to convince most Bermudians that not agreeing with one choices means we hate them. We can agree to disagree

      • Mike Hind says:

Your “disagreement” and subsequent actions and words participate in and reinforce a system of rhetoric and demanding they be treated as less than human and not worthy of equal human rights.

That’s why it’s hate. That’s why “agree to disagree” doesn’t work.

Because your position dehumanizes other human beings.

      • Toodle-oo says:

There we go with the ‘lifestyle’ ignorance again.

      • Joe Bloggs says:

Ray, your use of the words “lifestyle” and “choices” identify you as someone who ignores the scientific evidence and adheres to religious doctrine.

Being gay is no more a choice than being male or female is a choice.

  5. Nicky says:

To the comment left by “interesting”, Coral Beats have played the last three years on May 24 th along the route for those that participate in May 24th run\walk and bycicle. We position ourselves near Somerset Bridge or along the causeway. We love May 24 th and have always participated freely since our formation. Come check us out next year Mr\Mrs Interesting. Since you have missed us come see us at the innaugral Pride Parade!

  6. @big things a gwan says:

Why would their motivation be to stand up to hate. Everything should not be fueled by things that are negative. I agree the Poster #interesting….. Why have they not come out during the day that is set aside to celebrate Bermuda (Bermuda Day) Should that be reason enough?

Don’t get me wrong I support them coming out for the Gay Pride parade, I am just amused that the hay don’t everything besides the one day set aside to Celebrate Bermuda.

What was the justification for Celebrating Gay Pride and not Coming out in the 3 years other their existence to celebrate with the community on Bermuda Day.

    • Mike Hind says:

And yet, as people have said, they did.
      So… what’s the argument?

  7. get a grip says:

get a grip and stop beating around the bush…..some Bermudians will watch the parade but they on a whole do not participate in the parade.

now that does not mean some Bermudians singularly don’t go in it, I mean some organizations and groups as a whole do not participate in parade. these are facts,

If I am wrong in the last 10 years name 10 groups with diverse memberships that participate in the May 24th parade. I will wait!

  8. here we go says:

stand up to hate, give me a break,

where were these ladies when people were marching to stop the violence
where were they when there was mothers marches for the deaths of their sons
how bout marches at when people were sleeping on parliament for the rights of Bermudians

people choose causes they are comfortable with that in their social circles are acceptable. They will never take a stand if the cause is not fit into their world. but don’t give me that around standing up to hate. if they where standing up to hate we would have heard from them much more than we have.

We will be watching to see the causes that get their interest now and how active they will become in standing up to all the hate on island.

    • Mike Hind says:

Where are you, standing up to homophobic hate?

You denounce them, baselessly, for not supporting YOUR causes, but you’re here not supporting theirs.
      Isn’t that a little hypocritical?

    • PBanks says:

On a tangent, people should be marching more often for the deaths from violent acts or road collisions. For some reason the powers that be only pay lip service. Why not organize a new march on Parliament demanding better from the elected MPs? Maybe you’ll also get commitment from these organisations that you’re skeptical of.

  9. somuchless says:

And um still waiting to hear from the people’s campaign or did they go silent July 2017?

    • Joe Bloggs says:

The rent-a-mob is home counting the money it received from the PLP Government for preventing democracy in Bermuda for a day

      • Toodle-oo says:

For $48,000 I’d act stupid and get peppered too .
