Shakir’s mother is the administrative assistant to Jeffrey Brown, the President of the Seventh-day Adventist Conference. A devout Christian, she is asking for prayers for her son.

In a remarkable fashion, Mrs. Amory is also asking for prayers for the lady who struck her son while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Mrs. Amory said:

My son, Shakir Amory, was involved in a serious road traffic accident around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday evening on his way home from a family gathering. I do not have the full particulars of the accident or the police report, but he was struck by a lady under the influence of alcohol.

He is in the ICU of KEMH and has been put in a paralysed state for his safety. He has multiple fractures and injuries – both legs, left wrist, jaw, collar bone, collapsed left lung, and head injuries.

Our family would like to thank you for the prayers that you have said on his, and our behalf.

Also, please pray for the lady involved in the accident with him, as she has to come to the reality that alcohol only harms those who you love.

When you pray, please pray specifically that the pressure in his head stays down, that there will be no more swelling and that when they bring him out of the paralysis that he is cognizant of his surroundings, and also that he does not develop lung infections as he asphyxiated and swollowed some of his vomit. I will keep you updated as I receive results. Thanks again for your prayers.

Kind regards,
Roslyn Amory
