12 Yr Old Struck By Car After Getting Off Bus
In yet another case of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on North Shore, at around 4pm today [Apr 27] a 12 year old boy was hit by a car on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish, near the junction with Aubrey Road.
He was taken to hospital for treatment with non-life threatening head injuries and abrasions to his body, and later released.
The Police say that it appears that the 12 year old boy, a Hamilton Parish resident, got off the bus and attempted to cross the road when he was struck by the car which was traveling east on North Shore Road.
Update April 28: According to the Royal Gazette the car was driven by former PLP MP Dean Foggo
Bermuda has experienced two fatalities this month, which both involved persons being struck by motor vehicles while walking on North Shore Road.
41 yr old footballer Andre Hendrickson was struck by a car and died on April 17. Three months after the initial accident, 69 year old Derek Smith died on April 24 following an incident in which he was struck by a motorbike while walking on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish, near the junction with Workmen’s Lane.
In another similar case, a 10 year old boy was struck by a motorbike while walking across a pedestrian crossing in Warwick.
The Police state inquiries into this incident are underway, and they are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact 295-0011.
