Pics: World Day for Safety & Honouring the Dead
A ceremony was held this afternoon [Apr 28] to recognize the World Day for Safety and Health and the International Commemoration Day for the Dead and Injured Worker. The ceremony recognized and remembered persons who have died in industrial accidents in Bermuda, as well as promoted safe work practices.

President of the Construction Association of Bermuda Andrew ‘Andy’ Pereira also spoke. Mr Pereira is a Joint Managing Director of D&J Construction and has worked in the industry since 1980.

Representatives of various organizations

Yellow ribbons were passed out along with programs, and everyone joined in at the end of the ceremony in a rendition of the well know song “We are the world’.
Bermuda has been observing the International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers since 2003. The day is observed in more than 37 countries.
