Bermuda: Two Top 3 Finishes at NCAA Nationals

Two Bermudian athletes placed in the top three at the recently held NCAA Nationals, with Aaron Evans placing third in the 800 metres in 1:46.87, and Arantxa King placing second in the long jump. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is an association of 1,281 institutions, conferences, organizations and individuals that organizes the athletic programs of many colleges and universities in the United States and Canada, and it’s national meets cater the top tier of college athletes.

Both athletes have had an outstanding season, with both shattering Bermuda’s national records this year. Mr Evans broke a 25 year old record, then proceeded to break it again only days later. 2008 Olympian Aranxta King recently broke the triple jump record with a leap of 12.93.

The video below shows the 800 metres finals held this past weekend. Bermuda’s Aaron Evans is running out of lane #5 wearing a red top and black pants. Four minutes into the video Mr Evans can be seen making a dramatic dive across the finish line to claim the third place spot.
