Local Actor Nominated For Canadian Award
Bermudian actor Daren A. Herbert has just been nominated for a Dora award for his role in The Toxic Avenger Musical which is playing in Toronto, Canada. The 31st annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, honoring excellence in the performing arts in Toronto will be presented in a ceremony on Monday, June 28 at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in the Bluma Appel Theatre in Toronto.
His nomination is for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male’, and other nominees include Paul McQuillanm Jeigh Madjusm Jeff Lillico and Evan Smith. You can read the full nominees here [7 page PDF]
Mr Herbert has previously been nominated from an LA Drama Critics Circle Award as well as an NAACP Theatre Award.
The actor has appeared on screen opposite stars such as Beyonce, Eddie Murphy, John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Kimberly Elise, and Thandie Newton, appeared on stages around the world including Bermuda, Canada, Japan, South Korea and the United States, and in commercials for leading companies including Dodge and Samsung.
The son of Lilette and Brian Herbert, he attended Warwick Academy High School, and began performing as a teenager with Bermudian organization United Dance Productions.
