Police Appeal For Shooting Witnesses

Assistant Commissioner of Police David Mirfield has said that Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the shooting yesterday [July 23], in particular anyone who may have seen a man wearing a white T-shirt on a grey motorcycle riding away from the scene at speed.

A 44 yr old man was shot around 5:10pm yesterday in the area of the Charing Cross Tavern near the junction of Somerset Road and Cambridge Road in Sandys parish. The victim remains in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and at last check was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident, particularly:

  • Anyone who was in the Charing Cross Tavern or the surrounding area around the time of the incident
  • Anyone who may have seen a man wearing a white T-shirt on a grey motorcycle riding away from the scene at speed
  • Anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the Somerset Road/Cambridge Road area Friday afternoon.
