Police Inquiries Into Circumstances of Death

The Bermuda Police are making inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 62-year-old man yesterday [Aug 5], saying that “Foul play is not suspected at this time; however inquiries are being conducted into the circumstances surrounding his death.”

At around 8:30am yesterday, the Police attended a reported medical emergency at a Pembroke residence. The 62 year old resident was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment, where he was pronounced dead at 2:12pm by a doctor. An autopsy will be performed on the deceased in the near future.

The Police say that no further information will be released until the next of kin have been notified, and they have extended their condolences the family of the deceased, as does Bernews.

Update 5:22pm: The Bermuda Police Service has confirmed the identity of the gentleman: 62 year old David Hayward of Pembroke.
