Shooting On Elliott Street: One Injured

[Updated] Early this morning [Aug 6] a man was shot in the area of Elliott Street in North Hamilton. The Police presently have both ends of Elliot Street blocked off [Court Street and Princess Street sides], as well as one section of Angle Street. Forensic officers are presently in the area processing the crime scene. The area the Police are specifically interested in appears to be through a small residential walkway, and is shown below being guarded by an officer overnight:

The victim was rushed to King Edward Memorial Hospital, and it is not clear at this time what the extent of the victim’s injuries are, however Bernews understands he is alive. We will update with more information when available.

Update 6am: Police release official information, confirming a 24-year-old man was shot, and is in stable condition. Full statement below:

Around 1:15am on Friday, Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident in the Court Street/Princess Street, Pembroke area. A 24 year old Pembroke man was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. At last check he was in stable condition. An active investigation into this incident is underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this matter to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299-8115 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.

Update 8:22am: Police still have both Elliott and Angle Street blocked off, and the remnants of crime scene tape is visible across the walkway, which is still being guarded by the Police.

Update 5:26pm: Police state “it would appear that this is a dispute between known individuals”, and that the police will be out in force in the area over the weekend.
