2010 Round the Island Postponed Again

August 26, 2010

The Bermuda Powerboat Association has announced that the Round the Island boat race will be postponed this weekend, and has been rescheduled for September 5th.

This weekend Hurricane Danielle is expected to pass by Bermuda, and Tropical Storm Earl is also churning in the Atlantic. This is the second time the race has been postponed, having originally been scheduled for August 15, called off due to the weather, and then expected to take place on Aug 29th.

The statement from the organizers follows below:

As you are aware there are a number of weather systems out in the Atlantic at this time. After consultation with Bermuda Weather Service, the Committee of the BPBA has decided that it is in the best interest of our racers to postpone this Sunday’s Around the Island Race. The back up date for this race is September 5 or failing that September 12.

All I can say is the “BPA” should get their act together. They are useless…..

Reality check. Who the hell would schedule a race during Hurrykain season with weather available 24/7.

Just make the sircut rahn Rabbitt Island in Herringtun Sahn………………ann dey can haiv dee prieze given horn dee Graazzy Null………..

    It’s so simple…………..jingus………………………

    • Stacie says:

so when do you suggest they race….being you’re “mister know it all” and everything…

      • terry says:

Whenever the Comittee thinks it is feasable……Dah…………..

  2. Mark says:

What an idiot! First of all it’s the BPBA. Second of all there’s nothing you can do about the weather. If you got something to say come up with a reasonable suggestion. Apparently you dont have a clue.

  3. terry says:

The irony of this is that I was having a laugh and you take everything so serious like most in Bermuda at this time.

I’m only quoting the Headline above. Re-read it and how it is written. How I came to write “BPA” is correct.

Now go get on your surf board.

    • Stacie says:

actually you’re the “idiot” it says BPBA…

  4. terry says:

Oh Stacie please. It’s nice to defend but Mr. Mike has not come back and said anything about my comments.

The headline reads “The Bermuda Powerboat Association. Re-read what is written.

If it had said ( no offence to Bernews) The ‘Bermuda Power Boat Association’ I would have not penned what I wrote. I would have written “BPBA” as quoted my Mar.

Again…nah never mind. Very seldom am I right but in this instance I am.

Whats this…beat up Terry day because he is in a trough created by the pigs of internet?

    • Alex says:

It’s the BPBA. You’re wrong, Mark is right. Incase you were wondering, during the summer the winds are predominately from the south and the Azores high dominates the area Bermuda lies in. The weather is better; lighter winds, lighter oceans, and less rain. If you were a mariner you would know that is why the season runs from April to October.

  5. terry says:

Never mind. You just don’t get. I’ve been on the water for 55 years and have a Pilots Licence and could take a ship through Western Blue Cut.

    Read the headline again above.

I refered to it correctly as written. I know that it is the BPBA but if someone without knowledge did not and they abbreviated it it would be “BPA”.

    Surfs up..

    • Alex says:

I wouldn’t brag about a Bermuda Pilot License. Marine and Ports hand those out like candy.

      • terry says:

Wasn’t bragging at all. And there is no need for personal attacks. I earned mine.

        Now back to regular programming.
