This Sunday: 2010 Round The Island Race

The 2010 Around the Island Race will be held this Sunday [August 29] All Race Teams who have registered for the Around the Island Race must attend the mandatory drivers meeting on Thursday, August 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Spanish Point Boat Club Hall. Scrutinizing of all race boats and equipment will be held on Saturday, August 28 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along Ferry Reach. Failure to show up during the designated times will result in penalties being applied. All persons who have agreed to act as Race Marshals must attend a meeting on Thursday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Spanish Point Boat Club Hall to go over instructions and to receive equipment.

The race, originally scheduled for August 15 was called off due to unsafe seas, and the expected weather conditions. The rain date in the event the race must be called off again is Sunday, September 5, 2010.

The course of the popular annual race was scheduled to encompass the following areas; Ferry Reach, North Shore, Two Rock Passage, Hamilton Harbour, Granaway Deep, Port Royal Bay, Great Sound, Commissioner’s Point, Fort St. Catherine’s Point and St. David’s.
