Lisa Blackburn Wins Gold Medal in Ontario
Bermuda’s athletes continue to rack up the medals, with news coming that top local swimmer Lisa Blackburn captured a Gold Medal in the Ontario Hall of Fame Meet held from October 16-17 in Etobicoke, Ontario.
Her strong performance saw her win the women’s 50 breastroke, and she also placed 4th in the 100 metre breaststroke, with a time less than 1.5 seconds off her Bermudian National record for this event. She also secured several top 10 finishes in her non-specialty events.
She will be travelling to the University of Waterloo in mid November for more intense training and a possible competition at the Brantford Swim International on November 12-14th.
Ms Blackburn is prepping to compete at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Dubai, UAE, December 15-19, 2010.
She was part of the record-setting Bermuda team that captured 17 medals, Bermuda’s highest ever tally, at the 2010 Caribbean Island Swimming Championships held in Cuba. In Ms Blackburn’s international debut for Bermuda she won 4 medals, 3 being gold.
