Video: Regis Philbin On Bermuda’s Award

The readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine have exhibited their good taste by voting Bermuda at the “Best Island in the Caribbean/Atlantic,” something which was talked on the US morning show Regis & Kelly.

Bermuda was awarded the Conde Nast ‘Reader’s Choice Award’, after we came out on top of a poll of over 30,000 of Condé Nast Traveler’s readers.

Morning TV show host Regis Philbin presented the award to Bermuda’s Director of Tourism William Griffith on Tuesday, October 12, with approximately 250 guests in attendance.

Congratulating Bermuda, Mr. Philbin spoke about the our win on his top-ranked morning show, Regis & Kelly yesterday [Oct 13] showing a picture of himself and Mr. Griffith at the ceremony. He mentioned how friendly Bermudians are, and even joked about the “size 36” Bermuda shorts given to him as a token of appreciation. Watch below:

Premier and Minister of Tourism and Transport Dr Ewart Brown said “This is a fantastic honour for Bermuda. And Regis Philbin presenting us with the award has translated into wonderful coverage for Bermuda. We have been consistent for seven years now in delivering a quality tourism product, and the results continue to pay off. I want to congratulate all on the Island who are part of our tourism industry. Collectively you have made us a success.”

Tourism Director, Mr. Griffith said “We are honored that Bermuda was selected by Condé Nast Traveler readers as the number one travel destination. It is a privilege to be ranked so favorably with travelers and is a testament to the commitment of service that Bermuda provides to travelers every season.”

In addition, Bermuda picked up a second win, with the The Reefs Hotel in Southampton being named as the number one resort in the Atlantic Ocean category.
