Burch To Attend Barbados Prime Minister’s Funeral
The Cabinet Office announced this afternoon that the Minister of National Security Colonel David Burch will represent Bermuda in Barbados at the funeral of the late Prime Minister, the Hon. David Thompson.
A State Funeral will be held in Bridgetown, Barbados for the late Prime Minister tomorrow [Nov 2]. Minister Burch departs the Island tomorrow morning.
As the public is aware, Mr. Thompson passed away Saturday October 23 after losing his battle with cancer. Prime Minister Thompson was 48-years-old and has been described as “a leading light in the Caricom community.”
Minister Burch said this afternoon, “While this is indeed a sad occasion, I am honoured to represent Bermuda in this capacity. Prime Minister Thompson was a friend of Bermuda and it is only fitting that we show the support of not only the Government of Bermuda, but also the people of Bermuda.”
