Theft: Man Sentenced to 3 Months in Prison
Yesterday [Dec 6] Michael Eugene Smith pled guilty in Magistrates’ Court to two counts of theft relating to an April 20th 2010 incident at a Pembroke restaurant.
Mr. Smith, 26, was arrested on suspicion of stealing from two restaurant employees, and in court he admitted taking items from a purse as well as an I-Pod from a jacket in the restaurant’s storage room while working as a beverage deliveryman. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner sentenced Mr Smith to two 3 month prison sentences to run concurrently.
Detective Constable Derrick Golding of the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit stated “Police officers investigating the thefts became aware of Mr. Smith’s apparent involvement in the incident and their vigilance and solid police work led to his subsequent arrest in relation to these offences. In addition, one of the stolen items was recovered.”
