Tucker’s Point: One of the Hideaways of Year

December 29, 2010

Tucker’s Point Hotel has been named as one of the 2011 Andrew Harper Grand Award Winners in the Hideaway of the Year category.

Andrew Harper is the pseudonym of a writer who, frustrated by “commercially driven travel coverage”, began writing his own candid reviews of unique hotels. According to Forbes: “The popular newsletter’s creator and editor in chief, whose real name is known but to God (and his wife), has paid his own way at thousands of hotels worldwide and published his impressions without fear or favor.”

The overall winner was Il Salviatino (Florence, Italy) and other winners include; Amangiri (Canyon Point, Utah) and The Ranch at Rock Creek (Philipsburg, Montana), Lake Placid Lodge (Lake Placid, New York), The Hazelton Hotel (Toronto, Canada), Tambo del Inka (Sacred Valley, Peru), Titilaka (Lake Titicaca, Peru), The Peninsula House (Dominican Republic), Banjaar Tola (Kanha National Park, India), Sumahan on the Water, Villa Bordoni (Chianti, Italy), Hotel Le Fontanelle (Toscana, Italy), Lydmar Hotel (Stockholm, Sweden), Tenbosch House (Brussels, Belgium), Lime Wood (Hampshire, England), Amberley Castle (West Sussex, England), The Beverly Hills Hotel (Beverly Hills, California), Mauna Kea Beach Hotel (Kohala Coast, Hawaii)
