BFA Names Under 20 Squad for Suriname

bermuda football association logoThe Bermuda Football Association [BFA] today [Jan 13] announced the team that will represent Bermuda at the Under 20 World Cup Qualifiers in Suriname.

Coach Gary Darrell has announced that Reggie Lambe will be the captain of the team. Next week they will compete in Group E – Caribbean Football Union Men’s (CFU) U-20 World Cup qualifier in Suriname against the likes of Guyana, Netherlands Antilles, and host country Suriname. The winner of this group will have qualified for the CONCACAF U-20 Finals to be played in April of this year.

The Bermuda contingent will consist of (19) players, (4) coaches, (1) physio and (1) Head of Delegations (HOD). The team departs for Miami, Florida on Saturday, January 15th. While in Miami, they will be joined by other players presently attending school in the United States and England. The team will then depart for Suriname the following day, Sunday, January 16th.

Bermuda will play their first match Wednesday, January 19th, against Guyana. Two days later, Friday, January 21st, they will meet Netherlands Antilles and their third and final match will be against host country Suriname, Sunday, January 23rd. All games will be played at the Franklyn Essed Stadium, on artificial turf. Finally, the squad will depart from Suriname, Monday January 24th.
