CADA Celebrates Its 5,000th Free Ride
At approximately 3:15am this morning [Jan 22], CADA’s board members and staff gathered in Hamilton and presented a golden voucher to the 5000th person to use the free late night taxi service
CADA’s free and safe, community-sponsored, late-night transportation option, called Let Us Drive, is available every Friday night outside the LOM Building on the corner of Reid and Burnaby Streets between 3:15am and 3:45am. The service provides taxis free of charge for those needing to get home safely without drinking and driving.
Mr. Anthony Santucci, CADA’s Chairman, speaks briefly this morning, thanking the various sponsors of the program:
CADA has been in existence for more than 35 years, founded in the early 1970s by two gentlemen from Alcoholics Anonymous wanting to speak on the issues regarding alcohol and the struggles that families have in this regard as well as the overall impact of alcohol abuse on the community. It was first known as the Council on Alcohol, and then broadened its scope to cover substance abuse in general and became the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, then in 2009, after a complete rebranding, it became CADA – Encouraging Responsible Alcohol Behavior.
