Video: Firefighters Extinguish Pole Fire

While a group of youngsters were playing outside in a residential St George’s neighborhood this afternoon [Jan 3], they said they noticed something wrong with a nearby electrical pole and quickly arranged for someone to make a 911 call.

The fire department responded with one vehicle at approximately 4:30pm to the area just off Suffering Lane in St George’s, and quickly extinguished the fire.

The five youngsters stood by and watched the firemen work, with one of the children proudly informing those around that they were the one of the ones who noticed the fire, and helped to arrange for the department to respond.

According to area residents, this is the second pole fire to occur in recent weeks in the same area, and an additional pole nearby shows a damaged portion. Firefighters sprayed water on the pole for a few minutes as a handful of residents curiously looked on.
